Since I am away from school, might as well do a good deed by updating the class blog! (Btw, this is thanks to Nabilah for the request)

These announcements are contributed by Miu Yen, who has been emailing me homework and lesson plans since Friday.

So, these are the announcements

1) EOM Draft is due on Monday for Mdm Teo's students and the final submission is on the 6th August.

2) GPP is requested to be submitted, if I'm not wrong by Monday as well.

3) For those groups who have yet to submit your WR, please do so asap!

4) GP comprehension is due on Tuesday, so please please Ms Chua (word play here)

5) Group presentation on Monday, in which you all have prepared already

6) REGAN! Please remind the upcoming forum students. I suggest relaying to them now, like 6 people down the list since Ms Chua wants the reminder to be done two weeks in advance

7) For literature students, this is another reminder, please take note that every set of poems that Mdm Lai goes through will be accompanied with an essay question. As you all already know, the essay outline is to be presented and will be graded. I'm not so sure about Friday's lesson but this is what's going on from now on. I would like to stress the importance of the presentation as it not only makes up of your marks but it helps us in planning out the essay, since it has been identified that structure is still flawed for the majority of us.

8) As for maths, Mr Ling has "kindly" informed me that the students who failed maths MYE did not turn up for remediation. As the relay message relayed yesterday state, all these students are to attend NIGHT STUDY PROGRAMME on Monday. Mr Ling will have the remediation lesson at that time in the LIBRARY. Please turn up, as I'm been given the responsibility of making sure all of you turn up but can't seem to do it since I won't be around. Thank you for your cooperation

9) This announcement goes out to our dear treasurer, please bring what we promised to bring, technically you have it now.

I need your email addresses now! Either email me your emails at acikebok@hotmail.com or message me! This is so I can email you the travel declaration forms.

Take note however, that this is only meant for those students that travel to the listed countries!

Please email me asap!

And may I remind everyone to regularly check the class blog as updates are always put up as soon as Mdm Lai updates me.

And for those that did not travel to these countries, the travel declaration forms are snail mailed to you! You are required to bring this to school when it reopens this coming Monday.

Urgent Announcement

Ok, it is undeniable that this blog is left dormant since when, forever?

But this is an urgent update.

As you all may know, school is opening next Monday, despite the idea of extending the holidays.

These are the announcements:

1) Students will receive an information sheet and a fresh travel declaration form via mail. (A copy of the travel declaration form is attached.) Students must inform their parents about the information sheet on H1N1 updates.

2) Please check with your class members if they have travelled to any listed affected countries (as of 23 June) - Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United Sates of America, Indonesia, Hong Kong

and have returned to Singapore on or after 22 June.

With this into consideration, all students in 09a04 are required to call Mdm Lai asap, if possible, today, to tell declare of your travels.

3) If 'Yes' to point 2, please fill up the details required as indicated in the attached template. The student/s must fill in the travel declaration form and return the form to the college by 29 June, Monday. The form is available on the school portal.

Please note that the students in the above category will have to either mail the travel declaration form to the college (attention to CT) , fax to college (attention to CT) or email the scanned copy of the form to the CT. As they will be on Leave of Absence (LOA), they are required to be home quarantined and should not appear in college.

4) If 'No' to point 2, the students must fill in the travel declaration form and return the form to the college by 29, June, Monday.

5) Students must update their email address in the college learning portal by 25 June, Friday.

6) Pls bring your ODTs (Oral Digital Thermometers) to school everyday.

I'm sorry, I didn't know about the deadline for the poster until last weekend.

I'm having slight fever now and I wanna skip school everyday but I probably can't. Oh boooo. Eh wait this has no link.

I'll send the photos and information to Donovan to design the poster, because he seems to have (gay) photoshop skills. Those people with such skills can volunteer to help him as well. The poster should be two powerpoint slides long. (And since it's just the first draft of the poster just anyhow do first? Hopefully can delay and hand up next week)

Additional info:

The final draft will have to be submitted in July, after Mid Year Exams.

The posters will eventually be printed by the NE Committee and will be displayed from 5th August as part of the National Day celebrations.

Here are some updates on our undecided CIP projects for June!

BLESSINGS IN A BAG

Hi Melanie

Apologies for this late reply and on behalf of the team, we would like to thank you for your kind support. We are really honored to hear that you and your friends are interested to volunteer with us.

Just a brief information about Blessings in a Bag, we are a Singapore not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation with the aim to help the underprivileged children all across Asia. What we do here is to collect donations from the public, mostly of children basic needs, sort them and clean them (laundry), before shipping all these generous donations to our beneficiaries over in Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia.

You mentioned that you and your friends are interested in communicating with children, we regret to say that since all our beneficiaries are overseas, we do not directly interact with them. We do so by sending them letters through our sister project called Scribbly Friends. We are still in the planning stages for another visit to any of our beneficiaries but due to the Swine Flu and several other travel warnings, we will most likely postpone the trip in June until the condition is safer for any trip.

A batch of students, also doing their Community Involvement Programme, just started to volunteer with us. They will come every Sunday to assist us with the sortings and packing boxes of donations to be shipped over. So do let us know if this is feasible for you and your friends as well. Addressing Mdm Lai's lecture on Tuesday, the class responsibility as a whole is dropping. People are not on task as they used to, that includes me sometimes. Pioneers, it is time to buck up again! Stay stress free and should you need any help, seek the counsellors of the school or vent out to the Peer Coach, but I highly don't recommend that as he will just ask you to terminate your life.

Secondly, Mdm Lai is utterly upset with the fact that none of you actually manned the stall for the green bazaar, moreoverly, not bringing anything. In the future, if the class is not willing to commit, please withdraw at once! Don't burden Mdm Lai, she actually brought some books for the sale and only Shi Ting ( If I can recall ) is the only one who brought stuff for the sale today. An utter disappointment.

Over here, I would like to draw your attention to the class realy system. I noticed that people are still not receiving the relay messages. I have made a new relay system based on the old. It is in response to the new addition of Steven! So, he will be part of the relay. The relay will be up on Monday.

As you all know, Donovan has updated the blog. And yes, his manner is SO different from mine so please try to understand. After all, he's my dad right. Must show a mark of respect or else mom will beat me up!

Dinner with mom awesome, we had beef stew and discussed PW. She told me I got full marks but to avoid any biasness, she gave me a low AE. HAHA! AS IF!

We apepar united but as a matter of fact, we are merely bonding. Yes, socially we display that but academically, we showcase none of that. I hope Ms Zaleena's lecture will be inspiration for everyone to change their attitude during class. Stop day-dreaming and make sure that you are always comfortable with the concepts of any subject. So, today's announcements,

Students under Mr Ling who have yet to submit your MATHS TUTORIAL 2, please do so by tomorrow.
General Paper group leaders are to do a short mini presentation on your desired question. (Points only)
TOMORROW IS DUFFY and you must have gotten the message that you are to annotate the first 5 poems in the book
As for FRIDAY'S LESSON, you are to pick out the quotes for SCENE 1. This two messages should have been relayed earlier today.
Project Work Draft 1 is due this Thursday! I suggest you see my mom for consultation before you submit the draft and it gets thrashed by her. She can be temperamental after a bad "night". ps. Hi dad! & my two daughters!
For the malay students, you are to TRY to answer the questions from ACJC school.
E-careers are to be submitted tomorrow!

Okay, announcements aside, all the way to the other end of the world,

About the relay system, it will be in effect from next week onwards. For students who are not sure of who or what number, please clarify them by this Friday. There will be a drill this Sunday, so get yourself ready.

Another thing, 09a04, we are getting more restless as lessons go by and this annoys teachers sometimes (primarily Mdm Lai and Ms Zaleena). Can we try our best to avoid this attitude and yes, I WILL TRY TO ENSURE THAT I FOLLOW SUIT so i can be a "role" model for the rest of you.

Another thing, I realised that General Paper stresses a group of students, including me, in terms of its demands and expectations from the teacher. I am here to tell you all (off) that we have to persevere and face the challenges that we meet. Ms Zaleena is here to ease the burden of stress when we arrive to J2 next year. So, pioneers, stay with the course.

Don't hesitate to go for counselling if needs be. I might so, that might ease the feelings of some people. I need to express my feelings again. Haha!

Oh ya, for those students who are upset about not receiving chocolates, SERVES YOU RIGHT!! Haha, just kidding! These students who got them is because they participated in the relay! This is not an I-like-you-thing, but as mere thanks and appreciation (seriously, for the majority) who have made it a success. People like Rifhan, Melanie, Hidayah and Beatrice, good job for relaying effieciently, even though the messages are of no importance like the Earth Hour message. Thanks, the rest of you will be given a chance to relay and feel the pressure. And in the end, a reward!

Those students who wanna change their positions or wanna take up the job, approach me again before Friday so I can come to a compromise with affected people.

I recently found out that I lost my homework booklet where I put down all my objectives that are to be put up on the blog. A part of me is gone! :(

Literature booklets are to be submitted tomorrow by 8am at her pigeon hole. Those who fail to do so will be announced by Mdm Lai and these students are getting '0' or ungraded for that particular task; ALL SIX POEMS, MYTH and ONE FLESH will be a waste...
There has been a slight change in the forum. Forum for General Paper is on MONDAYS only. So, for the next two students AMALINA and DONOVAN, prepare 2 different articles to present to the class!
Maths tutorial 2 is due today. Don't bother to submit if you are to submit it any later. He has given us zero!
E-careers worksheet are to be given to me by Wednesday.

Now, we move on to the relay system. Class, the relay system will be changed with effect from next week. The announcement will be made after General Paper tomorrow. STAY BACK for a quick announcement as another teacher are going to use the class.

09a04, I would like so stress the importance of visiting the class blog as these announcements will be posted almost regularly. If you didn't get the relay message that were to be sent today, please inform me so I can report it to the authorities. Just because you have gotten the 'reward' doesn't mean that you can slack off from your duty.

I am aware during the weekend all of you are Verlorene Jugends (Lost Youth).

This announcement is specifically targeted to illustrate the formal positions that Ms Zaleena has set for us to do from next week onwards.

The list that is going to be stated later are your arrangements for subsequent General Paper lessons.

Since Ms Zaleena wants to have a couple grouping (1 guy to 1 girl), the guys have to do it for at least three times. We can do it guys, don't worry about the stress!

Attention 09a04 (I have received comments that Dear Pioneers is actually an idiotic start, so FINE!!! *stares and dies...*), here are the announcements for this weekend.

We all know that the timetable has changed right so ya... (Sorry, nothing much to say. So freaking tired...)

English Literature groups are reminded to use the "Mindmanager" at pjc.commontown.net to answer the poems; "Girl Talking", "Lizzie, Six" (My favourite) and "Education For Leisure".
Also, Mdm Lai reminded us to read the next two poems and understand them.
Project Work draft draft 1 is due on Monday; either on Conservation and Emergency (Duh!) My mom wants to emphasise the importance of this draft so as to be evaluated individually.
I still found out that there are people who haven't submitted the Unseen booklet. Please submit it by Monday as it is a GRADED PIECE!!!
About graded pieces, the 5 students (Excluding Amalina) under Mr Ling are reminded to submit the Maths Tutorial 2 by Monday. Any later submissions will be considered a jeero!
Malay students under Cikgu Siti are reminded to do the Bina Ayat worksheet by next tutorial lesson!

The Other Agenda

It's been a term since the implementation of the Relay System. Over the weeks of relay, my team and I (actually there's only me) have been evaluating the relayers and their progress. And sadly to say, we have to make a swap so as to give other students a chance. I am aware that 15 cents due to relay can be a burden so I'm now opening it up to the floor to step up and take the lead. For the current relayers, you have done the class proud...at certain occasions for some individuals and will be rewarded for your efforts.

Also for the current relayers who want to continue relaying, inform me immediately.

This is a reminder, yet again, that WEDNESDAY'S LESSON IS BEINF REPLACED BY FRIDAY LESSON!!! So that means Maths, Recess, Literature, General Paper and Art (for some people). And another reminder that the Wednesday's lesson will be Duffy, not Shrew.

The Shrew's lesson will be on friday with Ms Zaleena. 2 1/2 hours of lesson with her. Prepare yourself!

Dear Pioneers, the class blog is set up for the main purpose of posting announcements and other important things that takes up a long period of time.

EMERGENCIES will be relayed and in view of Term 1's relay system, it will be altered to better facilitate the relay. Relayers, you are to be ever vigilant as emergency messages of sorts might arrive from time to time and it is BURDENED on you to get those messages across. Wow, so much to handle.

All English Literature students are to bring $20 for your Wide Sargasso Sea book tomorrow
For those persistent people who have yet to submit your Unseen booklet, please (I'm not begging) submit by tomorrow morning as well.
Thirdly, tomorrow's PW venue will maybe at Computer Lab 2, beside Computer Lab 3. My mom says you can bring your laptops tomorrow.
People who are interested to be in the MURAL DESIGN TEAM, please (This time I'm begging!) submit the designs for the lyrics 'and for nation too" by next Monday. Apparently, the relay failed! ~Wha?!~
